Your Seattle Chiropractors: Drs. Larry and Nancy Miggins

“I admit, I was a skeptic,” remembers Dr. Nancy Miggins. “But my parents insisted that I try chiropractic since I was experiencing almost daily back pain after my high school volleyball injury. I was reluctant, but to humor my parents I made an appointment to see Dr. Gary Marsh, the Seattle chiropractor.”
“It was incredible,” continues Dr. Miggins. “I’ll never forget that first adjustment. It was as if a huge weight was suddenly lifted from my shoulders. That’s when I decided I wanted to be a chiropractor.”
"I grew up with chiropractic," declares Dr. Larry Miggins. "My parents both suffered with back conditions that were only relieved through chiropractic. I chose to become a chiropractor based on their positive experiences and little first hand knowledge of my own."
"I did not suffer from back pain, however I did have severe allergy headaches," recalls Dr. Miggins. "When I started getting adjusted in college, my allergies (and resulting headaches) disappeared."
Drs. Miggins began their pre-chiropractic education studying the basic sciences such as inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, along with basic physiology and anatomy courses.
After completing this undergraduate study, they were accepted at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, Minnesota. During their four years at NWCC, courses included biochemistry, a major emphasis on anatomy and human physiology, X-ray, diagnosis, chiropractic adjusting techniques and patient care in the NWCC Public Clinic.
Both doctors also completed an extensive externship where they continued to develop their patient management skills while working in a private clinic setting with an experienced chiropractic mentor.
After graduating in 1987 Drs. Miggins moved to Maui, Hawaii where they practiced for 8 years before moving to Bainbridge Island.
“We love skeptics,” smiles Dr. Nancy Miggins. “I still remember the concerns and apprehension I had when I went to the chiropractor for the first time. So we make it a point to explain everything in advance, answer questions and attempt to over communicate. Patients appreciate that.”
"Many times we are the last resort for patients," adds Dr. Larry Miggins. "Most patients have tried many different avenues to resolve their pain and symptoms before coming to our Seattle chiropractic practice."
Drs. Larry and Nancy Miggins have been married for 17 years and have two incredible girls, Alex and Kenna.
The entire Miggins family gets adjusted at least 2 times a week. The kids received their first adjustment within minutes of their births. Both children were water births at home and have never been vaccinated or received an antibiotic.
Our children have never been to a medical doctor and have never taken a medication ... not even a Tylenol! (If that sounds interesting, be sure to ask Dr. Miggins to explain!)
